Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
